Membership Committee

     Yiyi Yan, MD, PhD (Chair)

Dr. Yan received her medical degree in Shanghai Second Medical School in China.  She then her completed her M.S and Ph.D. training in Molecular and Cancer Genetics at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas, followed by a year of research fellowship.  After she completed her IM residency in Pennsylvania, she moved to Rochester Minnesota and started her Hematology-Oncology fellowship training at Mayo Clinic.  She completed her fellowship training in 2017, and joined as staff in the Division of Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She is in charge of multiple clinical trials and translational cancer research program, and is currently the co-chair for the melanoma/cutaneous malignancy group at Mayo Clinic.  Her clinical and research focus have been on Immunotherapy and tumor biology and tumor immunology, especially in understanding the mechanisms of immuneregulation to provide opportunities for integration of novel immunotherapies into more effective treatments for advanced solid tumors.

 

     Sarah Wang, MD, MS (Co-Chair)

Dr. Wang is a board-certified Medical Oncologist and Hematologist. She received her medical degree from Sun-yat Sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China. She then obtained a Master's degree in Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. After completing her Internal Medicine residency at Medstar Union Memorial hospital in Baltimore, MA, she moved back to Philadelphia and finished the Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship training at Lankenau hospital. She currently specializes in thoracic oncology and serves as chair of the thoracic tumor site at Parkview Cancer Institute in Fort Wayne, IN.  Dr. Wang is active in clinical research as a principal investigator/co-investigator for several clinical trials.

 

     Jane Liu, MD

Dr. Liu is a Hematologist/Oncologist at Illinois CancerCare, P.C. (ILCC). She received her medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center in Beijing, China. Dr. Liu worked as a research scientist at Amgen Inc. from 2001-2006. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Her Hematology/Oncology fellowships were completed at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Liu joined ILCC in 2012, practicing general Hematology and Oncology with focuses on lung cancer and leukemia.

Dr. Liu is passionate about clinical and translational research in the community setting. Since the beginning of the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), she has served as the local PI for the Heartland NCORP and has been among the top accruing investigators. She also serves on the Alliance community oncology committee, Cancer Care Delivery Research committee, and ASCO Research Community Forum Council.

She is a lifetime member of CAHON since 2014 and has been active in participating in CAHON’s community practice activities. She also has interest and expertise in medical informatics and practice management.

     Yong Ji, MD, PhD

Yong Ji, MD, PhD is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper - Camden.  He received his medical degree from Nantong Medical College, China, and PhD in biochemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  After postgraduate fellowship in Molecular Medicine at Columbia P&S, he completed internal medicine residency in New Jersey and hematology and oncology fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center.  Dr Ji was one of the Organizing Committee members for the CAHON in 2004.   He has a broad interest in treating benign and malignant hematologic disorders, GI and thoracic malignancies, and other solid tumors.  He has been serving hematology and oncology community in South Jersey since 2005.
