Yuxia Jia, MD, PhD


Director (2022-2025)

Dr. Jia has been working at the Office of Tissues and Advanced Therapies at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a medical officer. Among her many accomplishments at the FDA, she has served as a clinical reviewer for critical investigational new products and biologics license application and made valuable contributions to the development of FDA draft Guidances for Elderly in Clinical Trials, Prior Therapies in Non-Curative Setting and Clinical Trial Design for Cell Therapies in Cancer. Dr. Jia is a physician certified in the American Board of Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. She earned MD degree from Shanghai Medical University in China and PhD degree from Tohoku University in Japan. She previously worked as an Attending Physician in Beijing Hospital. In the US, Dr. Jia completed clinical fellowship training in Geriatric Medicine at Harvard University in Boston and in Hematology/Oncology at Columbia University in New York City following internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Stony Brook University in New York. Prior to joining the FDA, Dr. Jia was an Assistant Professor and the Gastrointestinal Oncology Leader at Pennsylvania State University Cancer Institute and served as a representative at the US National Cancer Institute Colon Task Force Steering Committee. Dr. Jia is also passionate about community service. She enthusiastically participates in community outreach programs. She is an active member of the Chinese American Hematologist and Oncologist Network
