Young Investigator Awards (YIAs)
Supporting the Next Generation of Academic Leaders
The CAHON Young Investigator Awards (YIAs) recognize and support outstanding early-career physicians, researchers, and physician trainees who are advancing the fields of hematology and oncology through scientific discovery, clinical innovation, and academic excellence.
As part of its mission to promote professional development and foster future leaders, CAHON presents Young Investigator Awards in conjunction with selected national and international scientific meetings and CAHON educational programs. The award highlights the achievements of emerging investigators whose research contributes to improved patient care and advances in cancer research.

Award Purpose
The Young Investigator Award was established to:
- Recognize outstanding scientific and clinical research by early-career investigators.
- Encourage continued academic and research excellence in hematology and oncology.
- Support professional development and engagement within the CAHON community.
- Foster networking, mentorship, and collaboration among future leaders in the field.
Eligibility
Eligibility requirements may vary depending on the conference, symposium, or program associated with the award.
In general, applicants are expected to:
- Be current CAHON members in good standing, or nonmembers with a referral from a CAHON member.
- Be residents, fellows, postdoctoral researchers, instructors, or early-career faculty members.
- Have made a significant contribution to the submitted research.
- Present original research at a qualifying scientific meeting or CAHON-sponsored event.
Specific eligibility criteria, application requirements, and award details will be announced for each award cycle.
Selection Process
Young Investigator Awards are awarded through a competitive review process. Applications are evaluated based on factors such as:
- Scientific merit and innovation
- Impact and relevance of the research
- Quality of the abstract or presentation
- Applicant's role and contribution to the work
- Alignment with the goals and mission of CAHON
Award Recognition
Award recipients receive formal recognition from CAHON for their academic achievements and contributions to the field. Depending on the specific award cycle, recipients may receive:
