Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA)
The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) recognizes outstanding members, supporters, collaborators, and friends of CAHON who have made exceptional contributions to the fields of hematology and oncology, while advancing CAHON's mission, growth, and impact.
This prestigious award is presented annually at the New York Oncology Forum (NYOF).
Application Process for the Lifetime Achievement Award
Eligibility Criteria
Outstanding CAHON members, supporters and friends who have:
- Advanced hematology, oncology or biomedical sciences in ways that have shaped the field and improved patient outcomes, either through direct clinical innovation or foundational discoveries that open new therapeutic avenues.
- Significantly contributed to CAHON’s mission and growth through leadership, mentorship, collaboration, advocacy, or visibility on the national and international stage.

Nomination Requirements: Nominator must be a CAHON member (self-nominations are accepted). Nominators must provide a nomination statement (350 words or less) which specifies the ways in which the nominee meets both criteria.
Selection Criteria and Procedure
The LAA evaluation committee will consider:
- Scientific and Clinical Achievements – The nominee’s lifelong record of advancing oncology, hematology, or related biomedical sciences through pioneering discoveries, clinical innovations, or leadership that have transformed understanding of disease biology, opened new avenues for therapy, and demonstrated or hold potential for significant impact on patient outcomes.
- CAHON Mission and Leadership Impact – The nominee’s service, leadership, and influence in advancing CAHON’s mission and community—such as fostering collaboration, promoting CAHON’s visibility nationally and internationally, mentoring future leaders, and strengthening CAHON as a professional home.
