Open Letter Condemning Racism in May 28 Issue of Science
On April 16, 2021, the Chinese American Hematologist and Oncologist Network (CAHON) published an open letter condemning the rise in hate crimes and violence towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the Journal of Hematology & Oncology (JHO). Afterwards, CAHON has taken the lead and reached out to the leaders of other medical and biomedical organizations of AAPI origin to join forces for an open letter that ran as an advertisement in Science on May 28, 2021. Additionally, thirty-three (33) organizations have co-signed the open letter, representing an unprecedented unified voice from within the biomedical community. CAHON is working with these organizations to explore ways to further expand the reach of the letter.
“We look forward to finding additional opportunities to use our collective voice to continue to address issues facing Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States and beyond,” said CAHON President, Chong-xian Pan, MD, PhD.
